Who is Mamoru Chiba?

​

Mamoru, or Darien (his English dubbed name), is a quiet and mysterious young man who attends high school when he meets Usagi. He becomes the romantic interest of Usagi Tsukino and soon falls in love with her as well. When he was younger, his parents were killed in a car crash, leaving him to block his childhood memories of his current life and reveal memories of his past when he was Prince Endymion. He has dreams that often show him Princess Serenity and suffers from painful headaches. Visions are also revealed to him whenever Usagi is in trouble.

 

After dating Usagi for two years, Mamoru gives Usagi an engagement ring at the airport before he takes off for college in the states.

Although tragedy strikes, the two are reunited with each other and their friends and claim their rights to King and Queen of the Moon Kingdom, where they also have a child: Chibi-Usa.

 

When Chibi-Usa comes from the future she takes a liking towards Mamoru and is often jealous with Usagi, as Usagi is with her. Both girls refer him as Mamo-Chan and it seems that Chibi-Usa respects the 20th century Mamoru more than she does the 20th century Usagi.

Mamoru as Tuxedo Mask:

​

Tuxedo Mask, or rather Tuxedo Kamen as he's referred to as in the Japanese, is Sailor Moon's savior. He uses a single rose to stop many attacks that put Sailor Moon and her soldiers in danger, as well as his cape. He also wears a mask to hide his identity. He possesses powers like the Sailor Soldiers that consist of healing and psychometry which is shown more in the manga than in the anime.

 

Mamoru disguises himself as Tuxedo Mask in order to hunt for the Silver Crystal, hoping this will reveal his past to him and stop the reoccurring dreams of the princess.

 

Tuxedo Mask takes the place of a Sailor Earth.

True Identity: Prince Endymion.

​

Prince Endymion is the Crown Prince of the planet Earth during Mamoru's past life. Endymion fell in love with the moon princess, Princess Serenity, which was forbidden. During his last visit to the Moon Kingdom, he came to warn his love of the danger she was in. While this was taking place, Endymion was killed before his princess by Queen Beryl.

In the future, Prince Endymion becomes King Endymion and marries Neo-Queen Serenity and fathers Chibi-Usa.
