Who is Hotaru Tomoe?

​

Hotaru Tomoe started off as a sweet and lonely, young girl who is the daughter of a mad scientist, Professor Tomoe. In the manga, Hotaru’s mother was killed from an accident in the laboratory, an accident that also injured Hotaru to where Professor Tomoe reconstructed her body and made a deal with Master Pharaoh 90.

When she is first introduced, she becomes friends with ChibiUsa and is not very popular amongst her classmates due to her powers and strange seizures. Hotaru is also the host of Mistress 9 - an evil entity that made her home inside of Hotaru a the age of five.

After Sailor Moon prevents Sailor Saturn from destroying the world, Hotaru is reborn as a baby, completely healthy and taken away by Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna to be raised.

Hotaru as Sailor Saturn:

Soldier of Ruin and Birth, Sailor Saturn is almost as powerful as Sailor Moon and carries a weapon called the Silence Glaive which possesses enough power to destroy the world. It is her awakening that is feared by Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto and it is these three soldiers who carry the talisman that awaken her.

Later in the storyline, Sailor Saturns powers are soon needed and after being reborn, she ages rapidly to where she could use them.
