Luna
Luna appears in the beginning of every version made of Sailor Moon, as the moon (black) cat who awakens Sailor Moon aka Usagi Tsukino. In the past, Luna served Princess Serenity and was put into a long sleep with Artemis when the Moon Kingdom was destroyed. She was brought to Earth to look after the sailor soldiers who would eventually be reborn. Throughout the series, Luna develops a very close bond with Usagi even though in the beginning, Usagi drove her crazy. It is implied that Luna and Artemis have a romantic relationship and it is finally confirmed when they meet their future daughter, Diana.

Luna is given her own side story where she becomes ill and is rescued by a human which whom she falls in love with. It is this side story that Luna takes her human form.

Artemis is the moon (white) cat that awakens Minako, informing her that she is a guardian of the Moon Kingdom. He trains her giving her the name of Sailor V and continues to stand by her side when she takes her proper name: Sailor Venus. He remembers his past in the Silver Millennium much better than Luna and is also a lot more easygoing.
It is hinted his attraction towards Minako during the series, but their relationship is more of a big brother thing. He also cares about Luna and comforts her at times and is evidentially a good father towards Diana by her affection for him.

Diana is the third moon (gray) cat who reveals to Luna and Artemis that she is their daughter from the future.
Diana acts as a guardian to Chibi-Usa, just as Luna to Usagi and Artemis to Minako. She is very curious, very polite, and eager to always help.
