Along with the plot line changes, a few things were made to make more modern. Two major ones you notice right off hand (besides Minako) is the magical karaoke room they hide out in instead of the arcade. Also theres the transformation pen and communicators. These objects are replaced with a magical camera phone and bracelets. A few more things were added to this series. Luna is able to turn human and calls herself Sailor Luna, Sailor Mercury is kidnapped by Queen Beryls generals and made into Dark Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Moon fights as Princess Sailor Moon. They're also given a new antagonist named Mio Kuroki who is a rival with Minako in the pop idol business. She's just a weird character all together and eventually becomes jealous of Usagi and Mamoru's relationship and tries kidnapping him to bring him to Queen Beryl so he can join the Dark Kingdom. She's kinda like an essence of Queen Beryl who is eventually killed off.The theme song was written by Naoko as well as many other lyrics for PGSM. Like the Sera-Myu Musicals, a musical spin-off came from PGSM and was called: Kirari Super Live! The girls sing their songs that were played throughout the live-action, one of them being the famous Cest La Vie, the song the girls play quite often throughout the series. Honestly I really enjoyed watching PGSM. It was extremely corny but you laugh and you cry throughout the series and I recommend trying to get a hold of the series.

PGSM or rather Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is the Japanese live-action of Sailor Moon. It was a production produced by Toei and a piece of work that Naoko Takeuchi was heavily involved with. It ran from October 4, 2003 to September 25, 2004 and was a bit of a twist of Sailor Moon. Of course it held the same context of what Sailor Moon was about - Luna finding Sailor Moon, the soldiers uniting to defend Earth - but there were twist throughout the live-action.In PGSM, Queen Beryl and her four generals make another appearance, including an amorphous evil power named Queen Metaria. Their mission is to steal energy so that Queen Beryl can take over the world. But of course, the Sailor Senshi stand in their way and this is where some of the twists come in. Of course theres the same ol' Usagi Tsukino, the genius Ami Mizuno, Rei Hino who has her psychic abilities and works in the Hikawa Shrine, and the tom-boy Makoto Kino (showing off her feminineness more), but then theres Minako Aino who is a J-Pop idol and someone who the girls are fanatics about (which is completely different from the anime/manga). Tuxedo Mask is a jewel thief in search of the Silver Crystal in the PGSM and the best part - Luna and Artemis are STUFFED ANIMALS!!! (That come to life at scenes and personally I found this hilarious!)
