Sailor Mercury was the second Sailor Guardian discovered when she was attacked in her civilian form. She appears in Volume 1 of the manga and Act 2 of Sailor Moon Crystal as the Guardian of Love and Intelligence.
Sailor Mercury transforms with her power-up pen that she got as a prize from the Sailor V game at the arcade. She shouts "Mercury Power Make Up!" and uses the attack "Mercury Aqua Mist" which disorients the youmas. In later acts, Sailor Mercury uses water attacks without calling out the attack's name - she can also manipulate what this attack does.

Sailor Mercury
Ami Mizuno is the civilian form of Sailor Mercury and is the brains of the group. She is the same age as Usagi - 14 - and is also in Junior High but in Class 5 with an IQ of 300. Ami's classmates think she is arrogant and a snob because she comes from a wealthy family (mother is a doctor) and she is always in her books studying. But this opinion of her soon changes after she meets Usagi.
Ami is very shy and at first Usagi approaches Ami just for her studying skills then realizes that everything her classmates said about Ami is false. Ami is actually very sweet and fun to be around.
Ami and Usagi are the first of the Sailor Senshi to become close friends and when they meet the other guardians, Ami welcomes them as easily as Usagi does.
