Sailor Mars is the third Sailor Guardian, discovered by Luna and the others in Volume 1 of the manga and Act 3 of Sailor Moon Crystal. She is the Guardian of Fire and Passion.
Sailor Mars transforms with her power-up pen by yelling "Mars Power Make Up!" and does not use her flame attacks till Act 6. In Act 3 she is able to block Jadeite's attack with her psychic powers and uses a paper amulet to immobilize and fend off demons. To use this amulet, she shouts: "Akuryo Taison".
In Act 6, Sailor Mars attacks Zoisite with fire attacks: fireballs form in her hands as she's getting ready to attack and she does not call out an attack.

Sailor Mars
Rei Hino, Sailor Mars alter ego, is a beautiful, reserved 14 year old who has psychic and spirtual powers. Having these powers intimidate others and make them fear her. She works at her grandfather's shrine as a priestess and mostly keeps to herself. Unlike Usagi and Ami, Rei attends an elite private school, so you will see her uniform differs from the others.
Usagi meets Rei indirectly by Ami one afternoon and ends up following Rei to the shrine. Rei blasts her with "Akuryo Taison" which begins their friendship.
Unlike the 90's anime (which I'm very grateful for) and very much so like the manga, Rei and Usagi so far have an awesome relationship. They're mature about everything - although I'm sure they will show a few goofy times between the two. But so far in Sailor Moon Crystal, we get to see their true friendship.
Rei Hino
Just like the manga, Rei ha a special connection with her two crows: Phobos and Deimos. The story advances in the manga to show that these two crows are her guardians and have human form - this hasn't been shown in Sailor Moon Crystal yet.
Rei is often seen wearing a white and red Miko. This symbolizes her status as a shrine maiden or priestess in the Hikawa Shrine, which is owned by her grandfather.
