Act 1
Act 1 begins with a girl running towards something, she's wearing a white dress and you can see she might be royalty. We see a man leaving a corner and the couple's arms reaching to each other for a kiss. The scene cuts and we see Usagi Tsukino still asleep - late for school. While running out of her house she trips over something in the middle of the sidewalk and turns around to see it was a black cat. She goes to kiss the cat and the cat snaps out of it's daze and attacks Usagi.
Usagi notices it's trying to remove a bandaid on it's forehead and when Usagi takes it off, she sees a crescent-shaped bald spot on it's forehead. The cat jumps out of Usagi's hands and stands up on a fence looking down at her. Usagi is at first mesmorized by the moon on the cat's forehead, but once she hears the school's bell, she gets to her feet and hurries to her middle school.

Before seeing Usagi at school, we are shown a scene of a man calling forth a youma from the dirt - hinting that something is about to happen. He tells the youma to get him the "Legendary Silver Crystal".
At school, Usagi is thrown out of class and decides to eat her lunch after daydreaming about the girl she saw in her dream. But before she can take a bit out of her lunch, Ms Haruna throws the door open and tells her it's no wonder why she gets 30s in her class.
After being scolded at, we meet Usagi's best friend Naru and the nerd of their class Umino. Umino flashes his 95 on his english test and Usagi seems to crawl under a rock at her desk.
During a recess, Usagi and her friends talk about a thief that has been robbing jewelry stores lately. Umino begins to tell the girls about a superhero named Sailor V who has been stopping these robbers. The girls have no idea who Sailor V is and Usagi asks Naru about her mother's store. Naru tells them that her mom is having a huge sale on all the jewelry and they decide to go after school.
They go to Jewelry OSA.P and are greeted by Naru's mom. All jewels are 50% or more but Naru's friends get a bigger discount. We see here that the dust youma the man conjured from is Naru's mother. Usagi loves all the jewelry she's looking at, but figures with scores like 30s, her mother and father will never buy her a piece of jewelry.
Usagi leaves the jewelry shop angry at her paper and crumples it up, throwing it behind her. The paper hits a tall man with a tuxedo on right in the face and he calls her a "bump-head" and asks if he's going to have bumps on his head now too. Usagi freaks out and tells him they are not bumps but a hairstyle. He looks at her score, tells her she needs to "study more Miss Bun-head". At this moment the two look at each other and it seems like they have a connection instantly, but Usagi breaks the moment and runs off, feeling her heart pounding.
Usagi walks past the Crown Arcade and sees they received a new game called "Sailor V". She's greeted by the part-timer at the arcade Motoki and they both turn around to see the black cat Usagi stepped on earlier. She laughs at the bald spot on it's forehead and is stared down by the cat.
Usagi returns home to her mother, Ikuko, saying that she ran into Umino who told her he got a 95 on their test. Ikuko asks to see Usagi's paper and after seeing the 30 tells her she should've never came home with scores like this and kicks Usagi out. Usagi's brother Shingo comes home and tells Usagi he wished he had a smarter sister. He sticks his tongue out at her and Usagi yells, "Sailor V Kick!" as she throws her foot towards him. He shut the door just in time and Usagi slammed her foot into it.
As Usagi is trying to get back in, we see a man in a cape and mask stepping up towards Naru's mom's shop. The youma who has taken over as Naru's mom is hovering over a device that is glowing red. She is collecting all the human's energies who bought jewelry today and are wearing it. Naru accidentally walks in and realizes her mother is not her mother.
Usagi finally gets back inside and can't believe her mom kicked her out again. She goes to lay down and dreams about the girl and man from this morning. They are holding hands and running away from something, but then a Godzilla looking beast appears and Sailor V comes to the rescue. The dream turns into the videogame and Usagi must save the cat in the cage that she saw earlier that day. Usagi is started by a scratch to the face and waking up to the black cat yelling that the mark on her head is not a bald spot.
The cat introduces herself as Luna and that she has been looking for Usagi. She thanks Usagi for removing the bandaid since it disabled her speech and blocked her searching abilities. Usagi thinks this is a dream and tries going back to sleep so to make Usagi not see it's a dream, she gives her a gift - a brooch. Usagi excitedly grabs the brooch to put it on and Luna tells Usagi that she is the chosen Guardian. Luna tells her that she has a mission to find her allies, defeat the enemy, then save their princess.
Usagi's brooch begins to glow and Luna tells her to yell out: "Moon Prism Power Make-up!" Usagi transforms into a pretty magical girl in a sailor suit which reminds her of Sailor V. Her headgear in her odangos begin to flash and she can hear Naru calling out for help. Luna tells Usagi the enemy has arrived and Usagi begs to go save her friend.
Back at the jewelry store, Naru learns that her real mother is tied up in the basement and that Naru will not be leaving the shop alive. The man in the cape and mask appears inside the building but hides when he hears a girl yelling for the youma to get away from Naru.
The youma demands to know who Usagi is in her new suit and Usagi looks to Luna for an answer. She looks up at the moon and knows exactly who she is: "The Pretty Guardian in a Sailor Suit, Guardian of Love and Justice, Sailor Moon". The youma calls forth the servants she created by stealing their energies and they come to attack Sailor Moon.
While running away from the zombified women, Sailor Moon ends up falling and scratching her knee. She cries a little then gets back up and runs around in circles. Luna yells at her to fight, but Sailor Moon has no idea how. Sailor Moon realizes she's surrounded by these possessed people and begins to cry. The headgear in her odangos amplifies her crying, making the women drop from the ultrasonic waves.
The windows begin to shatter with Sailor Moon's cries and when the crying calms down, the man in the mask appears in the shattered glass, telling Sailor Moon to stop crying. Sailor Moon can't find where the voice is coming from but turns to Luna who tells her to use her tiara to attack the youma, while yelling "Moon Tiara Boomerang!"
Sailor Moon uses this attack and destroys the youma that was impersonating Naru's mother. The youma screams and turns back into dust. Sailor Moon defeated her.
Once the youma is defeated, Sailor Moon hears the man's voice again stating that he didn't find the "Legendary Silver Crystal" but he found something else that's interesting. She turns around and sees him up above, jumping from the window. She chases him outside and catches a better glimpse of him. He introduces himself as Tuxedo Mask and disappears.
Little does Sailor Moon that while she's watching Tuxedo Mask, she too is being watched. Her enemy - the man who sent the youma - is watching her through a crystal ball. He is impressed, but states that he will get the "Legendary Silver Crystal".
The next day at school, Naru is telling the others about what happened at the store. She says she passed out but before she did, she saw a Sailor Guardian come save her. While Naru is excited and telling her friends, Usagi is hiding away from them, looking a little upset and annoyed. She begins to wonder what's going to happen to her now that it really wasn't a dream.
Before the Act ends, we see a glimpse of a girl with blue hair, walking outside Juban Public Middle School.
